Computerization: Achieve SCF Destination Postage Rates for Strayed Letter Mail

The USPS rate structure provides discounts for data and mail preparation work that mailers perform in order to minimize the effort required by the USPS to deliver the mail. Basic list presorting, bar coding and destination entry are traditional work sharing and postage savings techniques.

Now, the USPS has authorized a limited number of third party service providers to combine mail of multiple owners [prepared by approved mailing houses] so that it can be efficiently entered directly to the SCF [Sectional Center Facility] closest to the recipient's address.

The authorized providers use sophisticated software and preparation facilities to identify and assemble 3602'd mail trays onto pallets bound for the majority of the SCF's. There are preparation and freight costs involved, but the net postage savings can be significant.
